Expatriate Chicagoan Melanie Fletcher is a woman of simple tastes -- she likes to write, preferably for money. She also quilts, fences, knits, bellydances, and functions on way too little sleep. Her latest publishing credits include "Lost in Whitby" (FABULOUS WHITBY, Shrew Press UK), "Lurleen Terwilliger and the Swedish Bubba Balls" (INTERNATIONAL HOUSE OF BUBBAS, Yard Dog Press) and "It Takes Brains to Run a Con" (FLUSH FICTION, Yard Dog Press), and her novella "Best Protection" will be half of the fourth Double Dog from Yard Dog Press. Oh, and if she can convince the cats to leave her alone long enough, she may even finish editing her first novel, WHITE KNIGHT, QUEEN ALICE.

As promised, I'll be including guests and guest bios for upcoming shows.  Stay tuned!  One of our upcoming guests is Carol Hightshoe:

Born in 1964, Carol Hightshoe grew up in San Antonio, Texas. Her interest in writing first showed itself in elementary school when she used her classmates as models for stories. During high school, she served as the Public Information Officer for the Army JROTC unit as well as editor of their monthly newsletter. She graduated from Highlands High School in 1982 and went on to major in Journalism at Texas A&M University.

She served as a Ground Radio Operator in the US Air Force reserves, has worked as an office manager for two veterinary clinics, and has also worked as a Deputy Sheriff in El Paso County Colorado. She traveled to The Netherlands and then eventually found her way to Colorado Springs, Colorado courtesy of her husband and the US Air Force.

An avid reader at a young age, her strong desire to write came from her love of (her husband calls it her obsession with) Star Trek. It was this early love of Trek that led her to the Science Fiction and Fantasy genres.

Carol's family includes her husband Tim; their son John; and her four-footed canine companion - Kans. While the rest of the family manages to tolerate her imaginary friends and worlds, Carol's attitude is "I live in my own little world; but it's okay -- they know me there."

Carol's list of publications includes:

Midnight Song - Creature Fantastic Anthology - Daw Books - September 2001
Legends Reborn - PanGaia Magazine - Summer 2004
The Sword of Power - Illuminated Manuscripts - Dragon Tooth Fantasy - August 2005
The Final Blessing - Stories of Strength - Lulu.com - November 2005
The Gift of All - Amazon Shorts - Feb 2006
A Game of Marbles - Beyond Centauri - April 2005
Pawn's Gambit - Coming from Baen's Universe

To learn more about Carol's writing you can visit her website: Realms of Imagination at www.carolhightshoe.com. Also feel free to email her at petaQ@msn.com.

In addition to her own writing she is the editor of the online e-zine The Lorelei Signal (www.loreleisignal.com).

Remember, you can purchase many of her works at www.scifitravelingroadshow.com and Carol's website at www.carolhightshoe.com.

I'll be posting upcoming guests for the SciFi Traveling Road Show as I get information.

Gloria Oliver lives in Texas with her husband, daughter, and three cats.  She is the author of the novels In the Service of Samurai, and Vassal of El, both in the Fantasy genre and both finalists in the EPPIES.  Two other fantasy novels are due for release in 2006 and 2007, Cross-eyed Dragon Troubles and Willing Sacrifice. She also has stories in The Four Bubbas of the Apocalypse, Small Bites, and Fundamentally Challenged anthologies.

When not busy working with numbers at work, she enjoys reading, writing, watching movies, Japanese Anime, trying to learn Japanese, and making her mind mush by translating Japanese comics.   To find out more, please visit www.gloriaoliver.com

Check out our website at www.SciFiTravelingRoadShow.com for Gloria's books.

Promo for the SCI FI TRAVELING ROAD SHOW

Tired of the same old, same old?  Did you know that there are alternatives to the same handful of authors you see on bookshelves?  Check out the Sci Fi Traveling Road Show -- an exciting alternative to large press.

We have nothing against large press.  Heck, I'm published with large press, so I have a special spot in my heart with them.  But sometimes it's nice to see who's out there on the horizon who is going to be the next big author.  (You know who you are!)  Everyone needs a start and small press is publishing some of the most interesting and innovative stories around.  Small doesn't mean inferior.

Wow!  Well, here we are at the Promo for the Sci Fi Traveling Road  Show.  I'm pretty psyched because it's a spiffy promo and I'm in the middle of getting guests signed up and interviewed.

Some very important show notes:

Our website will be www.scifitravelingroadshow.com.  There, I'll have books available for sale and also other show information.  Surf over there and bookmark those pages.

A dragon as a cohost?  Yeah, and you want to make something of it?  A dragon makes the perfect cohost!

We're not just Science Fiction, but Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror.  Speculative fiction.  Slipstream.  Whatever suits my fancy.

We'll have readings, interviews, reviews of books, and news about the small press scene.  A lot of exciting literature is coming out of small press and I feel it's time it has its own podcast.

If you want to exchange promos, drop me a line.  Happy to do so.  I'll be cruising around and looking for other people's promos as well to drop in.

If you're an author or publisher and wish to get involved in this crazy traveling road show, send me an email at margaretbonham@aol.com with the words, TRAVELING ROAD SHOW in the subject.  We're looking for authors and publishers to interview who are published by a legitimate small press publisher (no PODs unless you're already an established author -- sorry!).

Look for our next podcasts coming soon.

Remember, it's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the blaster in the paws of the dog.
