This is our interview show and today you're in for a treat because I'm speaking with author and DIYer Matthew Wayne Selnick, author of Brave Men Run and a podcaster. Matthew Wayne Selznick is committed to the DIY ethic and is a steadfast supporter of independent creative endeavors. He lives in the High Desert of Southern California with his wife and several pets. Over the last twenty years, Matt has performed as a bassist, singer, and guitarist in several bands, duos, and as a solo artist, and composed over two hundred original songs. He has edited and published of two print lit-zines, two online webzines, and is the author of Brave Men Run - A Novel of the Sovereign Era. He had as normal a childhood as one can expect from someone who grew up to be a critic and writer. He has worked with every building material known to man (how many stone-planers do you know?) Besides reviews in DeLap's F&SF Review and Tangent, his first published work was STRANGE TWISTS OF FATE, a chapbook from Yard Dog Press. Since then, he's had a novel, HIGH RAGE appear and go out of print (from Silver Dragon Books), another YD chapbook, ILLUSIONS OF SANITY, has had stories in several Yard Dog anthologies, especially the Bubbas of the Apocalypse series and will have another novel published. HOME IS THE HUNTER, a science fiction novel, will be half of Double Dog #3, along with Lazette Gifford's FARSTEP STATION. One of our upcoming guests is Carol Hightshoe: Born in 1964, Carol Hightshoe grew up in San Antonio, Texas. Her interest in writing first showed itself in elementary school when she used her classmates as models for stories. During high school, she served as the Public Information Officer for the Army JROTC unit as well as editor of their monthly newsletter. She graduated from Highlands High School in 1982 and went on to major in Journalism at Texas A&M University. She served as a Ground Radio Operator in the US Air Force reserves, has worked as an office manager for two veterinary clinics, and has also worked as a Deputy Sheriff in El Paso County Colorado. She traveled to The Netherlands and then eventually found her way to Colorado Springs, Colorado courtesy of her husband and the US Air Force. An avid reader at a young age, her strong desire to write came from her love of (her husband calls it her obsession with) Star Trek. It was this early love of Trek that led her to the Science Fiction and Fantasy genres. Carol's family includes her husband Tim; their son John; and her four-footed canine companion - Kans. While the rest of the family manages to tolerate her imaginary friends and worlds, Carol's attitude is "I live in my own little world; but it's okay -- they know me there." Tue, 9 May 2006  I'll be posting upcoming guests for the SciFi Traveling Road Show as I get information. Gloria Oliver lives in Texas with her husband, daughter, and three cats. She is the author of the novels In the Service of Samurai, and Vassal of El, both in the Fantasy genre and both finalists in the EPPIES. Two other fantasy novels are due for release in 2006 and 2007, Cross-eyed Dragon Troubles and Willing Sacrifice. She also has stories in The Four Bubbas of the Apocalypse, Small Bites, and Fundamentally Challenged anthologies. When not busy working with numbers at work, she enjoys reading, writing, watching movies, Japanese Anime, trying to learn Japanese, and making her mind mush by translating Japanese comics. Mon, 8 May 2006 Promo for the SCI FI TRAVELING ROAD SHOW Tired of the same old, same old? Did you know that there are alternatives to the same handful of authors you see on bookshelves? Check out the Sci Fi Traveling Road Show -- an exciting alternative to large press. We have nothing against large press. Heck, I'm published with large press, so I have a special spot in my heart with them. But sometimes it's nice to see who's out there on the horizon who is going to be the next big author. (You know who you are!) Everyone needs a start and small press is publishing some of the most interesting and innovative stories around. Small doesn't mean inferior.
Wow! Well, here we are at the Promo for the Sci Fi Traveling Road Show. I'm pretty psyched because it's a spiffy promo and I'm in the middle of getting guests signed up and interviewed. Some very important show notes:
