Sat, 9 September 2006 ![]() Welcome to Episode 10. We have a wonderful flash fiction piece read by the author, David Lee Summers, entitled Cinnamon Hot Chocolate and Gold. I was drawn to the title because I'm a big fan of cinnamon hot chocolate. I guess the dead are too.

Lastly, some of us podcasters have noticed that people are still under the mistaken impression that they need an Ipod to listen to podcasts. While I really love my Ipod, the truth is you don't need an Ipod to listen. To this end, the band, Uncle Seth, has a PSA announcement -- and a darn good one! Check it out here at: http://www.musicpodcast.ca/podcast-psa/ The song, You Don't Need an Ipod, we're playing here is courtesy of the band, Uncle Seth. They've asked that I include these links to their websites on the show notes: http://musicface.com/uncleseth/news.html. Also they'd like me to point out that John C. Havens of the About.com Guide To Podcasting is their co-writer, and to link to http://podcasting.about.com/ as well. Comments[10] |

Today's interview is with THE James K. Burk. James K. Burk was born long, long ago in a place far, far away. He had as normal a childhood as one can expect from someone who grew up to be a critic and writer. He has worked with every building material known to man (how many stone-planers do you know?) Besides reviews in DeLap's F&SF Review and Tangent, his first published work was STRANGE TWISTS OF FATE, a chapbook from Yard Dog Press. Since then, he's had a novel, HIGH RAGE appear and go out of print (from Silver Dragon Books), another YD chapbook, ILLUSIONS OF SANITY, has had stories in several Yard Dog anthologies, especially the Bubbas of the Apocalypse series and will have another novel published. HOME IS THE HUNTER, a science fiction novel, will be half of Double Dog #3, along with Lazette Gifford's FARSTEP STATION. You can find Jim's books by going to www.yarddogpress.com and www.scifitravelingroadshow.com Jim and I had a lot of fun talking and Iâ??d love to share it with you.
Don't forget, we've got a new format. This week was our interview segment -- and supposedly it's shorter than our former podcasts. Well, it allowed us to to have long interview segments. Next time will be the book review part. Give us some feedback at www.scifitravelingroadshow.com and let us know what you think of it all. Also, remember we're now a paying market for flash fiction. Go to our website for guidelines. Comments[5] |
Sun, 27 August 2006 ![]() Guess what folks? We've got a new format. I'll explain more in the podcast, but basically it's because it's easier to produce several smaller podcasts instead of one big whopping one. The new format of the Sci Fi Traveling Road Show will be one show featuring flash fiction, one show with an interview, and one show with book reviews. I hope that I'll be able to produce a show about twice a week, so you'll get more content quicker. Let me know what you think at the website at www.scifitravelingroadshow.com.
Speaking of new format, we've decided that paying our authors will be good. Check out our new guidelines at the website at Our New Guidelines Page. Lastly, because the money is coming out of our pockets, we don't mind donations -- they go to pay our authors and for website and podcast hosting. Donate at www.scifitravelingroadshow.com
About our flash fiction piece: M H Bonham may be a bit familiar to you as she is the host of the Sci Fi Traveling Road Show. Her piece, Darkness Over All has appeared in the Small Bites Anthology and in Tales of the Talisman. She's an award-winning author with 22 books published including Prophecy of Swords and it's upcoming sequel, Runestone of Teiwas, both available through Yard Dog Press. Her upcoming prequel, Lachlei, will be available through Dragon Moon Press. Darkness Over All is set in the Prophecy universe. You can visit her website at www.shadowhelm.net and check out all the books she's written. Her first novel, Prophecy of Swords is a podcast novel available at Podiobooks.com.
While she readily admits this is simply an ego boost, it's more or less a stall until she can get more flash fiction in. So, feel free to follow the guidelines and submit some flash fiction.

Fri, 14 July 2006 ![]() What happens when humankind getss exterminated? Not with a bang, but a sniffle. Find out in James K. Burk's The Last, a darkly humorous story about the end of days... The books are available as podiobooks at www.podiobooks.com and available for purchase through the Sci Fi Traveling Road Show at www.scifitravelingroadshow.com. Some generic show notes and author/host updates: First, I'll be doing this podcast once every two weeks. It's more or less for sanity reasons as I have a number of other projects going on, which pay me. This is a labor of love (or maybe a labor of love/hate because it takes a lot of time to produce this) which I make no money from, but I do this because I like to do this. Donations wouldn't hurt, so if you feel generous and like the content, surf over to www.scifitravelingroadshow.com and donate to keep me motivated and pay for this site. Secondly, I just sold two novels, Runestone of Teiwas with Yard Dog Press (www.yarddogpress.com) and Lachlei to Dragon Moon Press (www.dragonmoonpress.com). w00t! Seriously, you can also purchase Prophecy of Swords from Yard Dog Press or check out the podiobook at Podiobooks.com. Lastly, I'm kind of short on flash material. If you're a small press author with some flash fiction, I want to hear from you. You cna get your work promoted through this podcast. How fun is that? Comments[0] |

Wed, 31 May 2006 ![]() Welcome to the first ever podcast of the SCI FI Traveling Road Show. Pardon our dust! It's hard to fit a dragon in the studio.

Tue, 9 May 2006 ![]() Prophecy of Swords promo for Podiobooks.com. This is my promotion cast for Prophecy of Swords as published and available through Yard Dog Press and as an ongoing podcast at Podiobooks.com. You'll be occasionally hearing this through the various podcasts. Comments[0] |
Mon, 8 May 2006 ![]() Promo for the SCI FI TRAVELING ROAD SHOW Tired of the same old, same old? Did you know that there are alternatives to the same handful of authors you see on bookshelves? Check out the Sci Fi Traveling Road Show -- an exciting alternative to large press. We have nothing against large press. Heck, I'm published with large press, so I have a special spot in my heart with them. But sometimes it's nice to see who's out there on the horizon who is going to be the next big author. (You know who you are!) Everyone needs a start and small press is publishing some of the most interesting and innovative stories around. Small doesn't mean inferior.
Wow! Well, here we are at the Promo for the Sci Fi Traveling Road Show. I'm pretty psyched because it's a spiffy promo and I'm in the middle of getting guests signed up and interviewed. Some very important show notes:
If you want to exchange promos, drop me a line. Happy to do so. I'll be cruising around and looking for other people's promos as well to drop in. If you're an author or publisher and wish to get involved in this crazy traveling road show, send me an email at margaretbonham@aol.com with the words, TRAVELING ROAD SHOW in the subject. We're looking for authors and publishers to interview who are published by a legitimate small press publisher (no PODs unless you're already an established author -- sorry!). Look for our next podcasts coming soon. Remember, it's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the blaster in the paws of the dog.
